Restore Illinois: A Public Health Approach To Safely Reopen Our State
In an effort to help businesses prepare to reopen and comply with these new guidelines, DCEO has developed a downloadable “Phase 3 Business Toolkit.” The toolkit includes signage, training checklists and other resources to help business owners and workers implement safety procedures and precautions aligned with public health standards. By working together, we can keep Illinois moving in the right direction.
COVID-19 Guidance for Local Business Operations
As a business owner and/or manager, you may be wondering—in light of Governor Pritzker’s most recent executive order—how best to manage operations and protect the health of your customers and employees over the coming month.
The practice of social distancing in indoor public places is a centerpiece of the new executive order, which states that your employees must be supplied with appropriate face coverings and required to wear them where maintaining a six-foot social distance is not possible at all times. At the same time, your store or place of business is categorized as a public place, and as such, your customers are required to wear face coverings while inside it.
Should you encounter a situation with a customer where he or she is not practicing appropriate social distancing and/or not wearing a face covering, we encourage you to make every attempt to work with that customer to achieve an amicable resolution. Should you be unable to reach such a resolution, you may contact the New Lenox Police Department non-emergency line at (815) 485-2500, and an officer will be dispatched to offer assistance.
As a reminder, best practices related to COVID-19 may be found on the following websites:

Should you have general questions regarding enforcement of the new executive order, contact Village of New Lenox at (815) 462-6400.
Guidance on Social Distancing and Face Coverings
Governor Pritzker recently issued his latest executive order aimed at protecting the public health, and you may be wondering how this order impacts you.
The directive lays out new public health requirements for individuals leaving home and for businesses. Face coverings are now required in public places or when working. Practically interpreted, this means that covering of the nose and mouth with a face covering is mandatory whenever you are in a public place and unable to maintain a six-foot social distance with others, and that face coverings are now a “fact of life” for all indoor public spaces (essential stores, manufacturers, government buildings, etc.).
As providers of essential government functions, the Village of New Lenox and New Lenox Township are adhering to these new requirements. If you need to conduct business with us in person, we kindly ask that you have a face covering in place prior to entering the Village Hall, the Township Ofifce, or Police Station. In a like manner, you can expect face coverings to be worn by Village employees during their personal interactions with you and other customers when you are within six feet of each other.
Irrespective of these required changes in the conduct of daily business, what will not change is our approach to serving you. We will continue working hand-in-hand to conduct essential business with you, and together we will get through this extraordinary time.
As a final thought, keep in mind that social distancing remains a centerpiece of the newest executive order, and we urge you to do everything you can to maintain six feet of separation from others in public places. It’s the best-known way we have to mitigate spread of the virus.
Should you have questions regarding the new executive order, contact the New Lenox Village Hall at (815) 462-6400.
